The wheel torque tranducer TW-2T-60KS provides a real time measurement of the actual torque at the wheel (My), allowing to measure both transmission and brake torque. Both the torque and combined steer/camber moment load ratings of the TW-2T-60KS transducer are 81000Nm, hence suitable for class 8 trucks, agricultural and construction equipment, and other large vehicles.

One transducer will measure the combined torque load for a dual-wheel set or a single tire. It mounts onto the vehicle using custom designed adapters which duplicate the critical dimensions of the production wheel and place the tires on the production centerline. Being rugged and waterproof, they are capable of on-road and off-road measurements in all conditions.

Highly accurate (non-linearity ≤ 0.1% of FSO, hysteresis < 0,05% of FSO), it has a very low sensitivity to the temperature, thanks to the temperature compensated calibration between 24 and 121°C. Useful on long drive tests, especially when repeated hard brakes increases the temperature, without generating any deviation in the measured data.

The TW-2T-60K-S measures all torque developed between the tire patch and the vehicle hub and can be used for drivetrain development to study efficiency and for optimal component design. They are also ideal for brake system component development, as well as anti-lock brake development, traction control, and vehicle stability system design. Measured data can be used for component development, computer modeling, and laboratory simulation and validation.


TW-2T-60KS is mounted on the vehicle by the means of 2 adapter parts (rim and hub adapter) designed according the serial wheel rim design. The transducer has two bolt circles, which fasten to the hub adapter one one side, and the rim adapter on the other side. The versatility of this system allows the torque transducer to be used with various wheel rim designs, as long as the rim size is >= 19,5", and the maximum wheel torque does not exceed 81 kNm.


High grade stainless steel material and weatherproof sealing combine to provide excellent resistance to corrosion and environmental conditions (rain, snow, ice, mud). The measure is stable over a wide operating temperature range (-40°C à +177°C). In addition, all wires are precisely located to reduce sensitivity to magnetic effects.

Signal acquisition

TTW-2T-60K-S strain gage bridge powering and the output signal transmission to the data acquisition system can be achieved by wire (slip ring) or wireless (telemetry). The transducer outputs a non-amplified signal (1,5mV/V), an amplifier can be added to the slip ring or telemetry in option. The slip ring version can include wheel speed information, as well as addition measurements (temperature, etc...).
