Eight channels on the end of the shaft
The T8 is an end-of-shaft telemetry transmitter for eight full strain gage bridges or thermocouples. It digitizes at 16 bits, with a data bandwidth of DC to 1 000 Hz, and transmits by RF with error checking. Its bearing-free housing has no wear parts and needs no periodic maintenance; the T-series has been proven at 24 000 rpm, with no upper limit established. The housing is 87.5 mm long, with a 57.4 mm body and a 75 mm flange, and runs from −40 to 125 °C. The receiver gives ±10 V per channel.
The T8 base is secured to the end of the shaft with two M4 flat-head screws, the thermocouple wires passing through its centre; an adapter can be machined if needed. Each thermocouple runs through its own hole to a screw terminal, and spare lead is held with RTV or foam. The access cover and the outer cover then close the base. The primary coil paddle is placed about 3 to 5 mm away, its indicating line aligned with that of the T8. The receiver and induction supply, in one box, take 9 to 36 V DC.
It carries strain gage and thermocouple signals off rotating parts, for example blades in jet turbine testing, and type K thermocouple temperatures off electric motor rotors.
