One bridge, battery powered, in a small package
The CBT-mini is a wireless, battery-powered transmitter for one full strain gage bridge of 350 Ω or more, with an input range of 0.1 to 10 mV/V and a fixed gain. Its M540 telemetry transmitter excites the bridge, conditions the signal and transmits it digitally on a 2.4 GHz link, at 7 kHz and 14-bit resolution; the receiver gives a ±10 V analog output, with a total delay under 200 µs. Two CR123A lithium batteries last 28 h, or 15 h if rechargeable. The IP67 housing weighs 145 g, 181 g with batteries, and runs from −40 to 60 °C.
The bridge is wired to the supplied Deutsch connector, and the batteries go in under a lid removed with an Allen wrench. The CBT-mini is laid on fusion tape and secured with zip ties, metal bands or hose clamps, with a counterweight 180° opposite on fast shafts. Pressing the switch powers the transmitter and starts a 3 s shunt calibration sequence. The receiver takes 9 to 36 V DC and two antennas, placed on opposite sides of the shaft; its RF FAULT LED guides their positioning, and a front-panel potentiometer trims the zero.
It is used on automotive half shafts: its installation manual assigns the channel to half-shaft torque, and the Michigan Scientific telemetry brochure shows a CBT-mini installed on a half shaft.
