1. Who is responsible
The data controller is PM Instrumentation SAS, which operates Michigan Scientific Europe, 47 avenue de l’Europe, 92400 Courbevoie, France, represented by Stéphane Sadai.
For any question about your personal data, write to sales@michsci-europe.com or to the postal address above.
2. What we collect, and why
Contact, quotation and support requests. When you send a form, we receive the details you enter: name, company, work email, phone number and message, and, if you give them, the test, vehicle, quantity, date and whether you want to buy or rent. The form also tells us the page you sent it from and, if you arrived from one of our campaigns, the campaign parameters of the link. We use these details only to answer your request and, where relevant, to prepare an offer. The legal basis is your consent, given with the check box of the form, and the steps taken at your request before a contract.
Technical updates by email. If you subscribe, we keep your email address to send application notes and product news a few times a year. The legal basis is your consent. Every email contains a link to unsubscribe.
Site search. The words you type in the search box are sent to our hosting provider to find the matching pages and documents; it does not store them. Our audience measurement records the words of each search and the number of results, without any link to your identity, to find the content that is missing.
Technical data. To deliver the pages and protect the site against attacks, our hosting provider processes your IP address and the technical data of your requests (browser, page requested, time). We do not use these data to identify you.
Audience measurement. To know which pages and documents are useful and to find navigation problems, we measure the audience of the website with Matomo, an open-source tool installed on our own server. The measurement sets no cookie. It records the page visited and the time spent on it, the documents downloaded, the links followed to other websites, the words of site searches, video plays and the use of the 3D product viewer. For forms, it records the type of request (quotation, technical question, demonstration…), the form used, and the steps: opened, started, a required field left empty (its name, not its value), sent or not sent. It never records what you type in a form. It also records the time of the visit, the browser and operating system in their major version, the approximate location derived from your IP address and the website you came from, reduced to its domain. Your IP address is shortened before anything is stored, and the statistics are only shown in aggregated form. The measurement is configured to meet the conditions under which the CNIL exempts audience measurement from consent. You can still object to it at any time (section 5), and nothing is measured if your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running and improving the website.
We do not sell personal data and we do not collect sensitive data.
3. Who receives your data
The website stores nothing: a form is sent directly as an email to the Michigan Scientific Europe sales mailbox, where our application engineers handle it.
Our service providers process data on our behalf, only for the purposes above:
- Cloudflare, Inc., hosting of the website and site search;
- OVH SAS, hosting, in France, of the server on which our audience measurement tool runs;
- Microsoft Corporation, Microsoft 365, which carries the email sent by the form and hosts our mailbox.
When a technical answer requires it, the details of your request may be shared with Michigan Scientific Corporation, the manufacturer, in Michigan, United States.
Cloudflare and Microsoft are located, or may process data, in the United States. These transfers are covered by the safeguards provided by the General Data Protection Regulation: the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework or the standard contractual clauses of the European Commission.
4. How long we keep your data
Requests and the related exchanges are kept for three years after our last contact with you, unless a contract requires longer retention. Your email address for technical updates is kept until you unsubscribe. Raw audience measurement data are deleted after 25 months. Beyond that, only aggregated, anonymous statistics are kept. Technical data processed by our hosting provider are kept for a short period, for security purposes only.
5. Cookies and local storage
This website sets no cookies and uses no advertising tool. Its audience measurement works without cookies (section 2).
- Campaign parameters. If you arrive from a link of one of our campaigns, its parameters are kept in your browser for the duration of your visit only (session storage), so that they can be attached to a form you send. They are deleted when you close the tab.
- Fonts and 3D viewer. They are served by this website. No request is sent to a third party when a page loads.
- Videos. A YouTube video is loaded only when you press play. YouTube (Google) then receives your IP address and may set its own cookies, under its own privacy policy.
- Links to other sites. The site links to other websites, including LinkedIn for sharing a news item. We are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices.
Objecting to audience measurement
The button below stops the measurement of your visits in this browser. Your choice is kept in your browser’s local storage. If you clear it, or use another browser or device, you will need to make it again.
Enable JavaScript to see and change your choice. Without JavaScript, your visits are not measured.
6. Your rights
Under the General Data Protection Regulation and the French Data Protection Act, you have the right to access your data, to have them corrected or erased, to restrict or object to their processing, and to receive them in a portable format. You can withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting the processing carried out before. You can also give instructions on what happens to your data after your death.
To exercise these rights, write to sales@michsci-europe.com or to the postal address in section 1. We answer within one month. If you consider that your rights are not respected, you can lodge a complaint with the CNIL (www.cnil.fr).
7. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data against loss, misuse and unauthorised access: encrypted connections (HTTPS), access to the sales mailbox limited to our staff, no storage of form data on the website. If a security incident affecting your data occurred, we would inform you as required by law.
8. Changes
We may update this policy, in particular if the website changes. The date of the last update is shown at the top of this page.
