Type of test
Off-road
Wheel and axle loads, PTO torque and power, and hitch forces on trucks, tractors, tracked vehicles and machines.
Tractors, harvesters, construction machines and tracked vehicles: the loads are higher and the ground rougher, the measurements are the same.

What do you need to measure on the machine?
Wheel and axle loads, PTO power and hitch forces. Each application shows the mounting, the instruments and the signals you get.
-
Off-highway Tracked vehicles Forces on the road wheels, the idler and the sprocket of a tracked vehicle, to validate the running gear model. Discover -
Agriculture PTO torque and power The torque and speed that the tractor delivers to the implement, measured during real field work. Discover -
Agriculture Combine harvester gearbox Torque, speed and temperature on the pulleys, gears and gearboxes of a combine, to find power losses. Discover -
Agriculture Agricultural machinery Wheel loads, wheel torque, PTO power and forces on working parts, measured on the machine at work. Discover -
Towing Pintle hitch forces The three forces between towing vehicle and trailer, recorded in real towing situations. Discover -
Lifting Crane load monitoring The force at each point of a crane's rope and rigging, so that no part is loaded beyond its capacity. Discover

What is measured in an off-highway or agricultural machine test?
The test measures the forces and moments at the wheels, the drive and brake torque, the torque and speed at the power take-off, and the forces on the hitch and on the working parts.
Most points are covered by standard transducers. Where none fits, the part itself is fitted with strain gages.
What if no standard transducer fits the machine?
The component itself is fitted with strain gages and becomes the transducer. Past work on agricultural equipment includes an instrumented clutch, gages applied inside a gearbox, and pulley or gear transducers made from customer components.
When the gaged part rotates, the signal is carried to the recorder by a telemetry system or by a tubular slip ring that slides over the shaft.

Off-road, frequent questions
Does a PTO torque transducer require a modification of the tractor?
No. The transducer splines in between the tractor and the implement, with no modification to either.
Which PTO splines does the torque transducer fit?
The PTO model has removable splined ends for the agricultural standard spline types 1, 2 and 3. The PTO2 is made in the standard PTO size specified at order.
How is tongue weight measured on a pintle hitch?
With a three-axis load cell mounted on the trailer, behind the hitch ring. Its vertical channel gives the tongue weight while the trailer is towed.
