The TW9.5 Wheel Torque Transducer is a sensor designed to measure the torque applied to the wheels of light vehicles such as ATVs, utility vehicles, or green space maintenance equipment. It provides a dedicated torque measurement channel and stands out for its watertight design and compatibility with wheels with a minimum diameter of 10 inches (25.4 cm). The system is based on a modular assembly, combining a hub adapter and a rim adapter to fit different wheel configurations without altering their original geometry.
The sensor offers a maximum capacity of 5.4 kN·m (4,000 lbf·ft) and supports a vertical static load of up to 455 kg. Its design incorporates a four-arm strain gauge bridge, ensuring non-linearity ≤ 0.1% and hysteresis ≤ 0.05% of full scale. The IP67-rated housing provides protection against weather and dust, while thermal compensation maintains measurement stability across a range of -40°C to 125°C. The maximum allowable electrical excitation is 10 Vdc or Vac.
This sensor can be used for dynamic testing on test benches, powertrain system optimization, or lightweight vehicle development. It is particularly well-suited for applications requiring precise torque measurement in real-world conditions, such as evaluating the performance of electric or internal combustion engines, or analyzing forces in off-road terrain situations.
The TW9.5 is compatible with optional accessories, including a sealed assembly consisting of a rotary collector, an encoder, and an amplifier, designed to simplify integration and data acquisition. Hub and rim adapters are custom-made to replicate the critical dimensions of existing wheels, enabling installation without major vehicle modifications.
