The LW55 measures all the wheel forces and moments on forklifts, other heavy vehicles with small wheels and scooters: vertical, lateral and longitudinal forces, camber, steer and torque moments. Internal X, Y and Z accelerometers complete the measurement. It adapts to wheels of 8 in and larger, and dual wheel configurations are available.

Track, off-road and test rig

The IP67 transducer suits the harshest track and off-road measurements. Non-spinning, it monitors and controls laboratory test rigs.

Slip ring or telemetry

Signal transmission is swappable on the same transducer:

  • Outboard slip ring: the amplifier package mounts onto the transducer and amplifies and digitizes the strain gage signals before they pass through the slip ring. It carries the X, Y and Z accelerometers and a high-resolution optical encoder for position and speed; a removable smart chip holds the calibration, zero and shunt values.
  • In-board telemetry: non-contact transmission, with a magnetic encoder for position and speed. The telemetry stator holds the receiver, the encoder pick-ups and the induction primary coil.

Specifications

  • Force capacity: 55 kN radial (Fx, Fz), 25 kN lateral (Fy).
  • Moment capacity: 5.9 kN·m on Mx, My and Mz.
  • Maximum recommended static load (Fz): 1 120 kg.
  • Nonlinearity and hysteresis: ≤ 0.25 % of full scale on Fx and Fz, ≤ 0.5 % on My, ≤ 0.75 % on Mx and Mz, ≤ 1.0 % on Fy; cross-axis sensitivity after correction ≤ 0.4 % of full scale.
  • Accelerometers ±100 g; angular resolution 0.17°.
  • Operating temperature −40 to 177 °C; transducer mass 2.57 kg.

The CT3 interface box

The CT3 performs the coordinate transformation and crosstalk compensation in real time, with zero, shunt calibration check and zero angle set-up. It outputs CAN FD, CAN 2.0 and Ethernet; EtherCAT and analog outputs are available with optional modules. An embedded webpage, reached over USB, sets up the system, and a front display shows the status and prompts the user.
