Thermocouples amplified on the rotor

The AMP-TCN-X2 is a spinning thermocouple amplifier that pilots on the rotor of Michigan Scientific SR series slip rings. Nine models, AMP-TC1-x2 to AMP-TC9-x2, carry one to nine channels in the same Ø 53.37 × 21.34 mm module. Each channel is cold junction compensated and amplified to 10 mV/°C at 25 °C, up to ± 10 V, not linearized; the manual gives the linearization polynomials. Temperature error is ± 1 °C max at 25 °C case temperature, ± 2 °C from −25 to 85 °C, ± 5 °C from −55 to 125 °C. Bandwidth 1.56 kHz at −3 dB, higher on request; noise 0.8 µV p-p referred to input. Supply ± 15 V DC, ± 3 mA max for one channel, ± 15 mA for nine, from any Michigan Scientific PS series power supply.

Two choices complete the model number: the thermocouple type, K, J or T, others on request, and the thermocouple connection, wires with connectors or terminals. Power, common and outputs are on color-coded solder terminals. An open or unused input saturates the output near −13.5 V without damage.

The module mounts on a 2 in (50.8 mm) pilot, at least 1.3 mm deep, or on an adapter, and is held by three #8 socket head cap screws, 45 in·lb max; runout stays below 0.08 mm per module. Modules stack for more channels. The module is not waterproof.
