Service
Vehicle instrumentation and data collection
We instrument the vehicle, collect the road load data and hand you the loads it sees in real use.
In brief
Instrumentation and data acquisition are handled as one job: forces, motions, environmental effects and operational data are captured on the vehicle, in controlled and natural environments. The service supports product development, durability testing and the validation of performance in real use.
- Days to years
- length of a data collection
- 4
- places of test: public roads, proving grounds, simulators, customer usage
What we instrument
The instrumentation covers the whole vehicle or a single component. It is designed to be unobtrusive and not to disrupt normal use of the product, which makes long-term data collection from actual users possible.
- Strain gauges on critical components
- Temperature sensors, displacement and acceleration measurement
- Wheel force transducers, suspension component transducers, powertrain instrumentation and chassis twist gauging
- CAN channel data collection: speed, GPS, accessory usage, door usage
- Custom data acquisition systems tailored to the test
- OEM component gauging and data transfer solutions
Road load data acquisition
Road load data acquisition (RLDA) captures the dynamic loads and the environmental conditions the vehicle experiences in operation. Data is collected on public roads, on proving grounds, on simulators, and during customer usage over extended periods, from days to years, to capture seasonal effects.
| Durability and reliability | The loads that feed durability and reliability testing. |
|---|---|
| Specification | Product requirement specification from measured usage. |
| Simulation and laboratory | Input data for computer simulation and lab testing. |
| Efficiency | Efficiency and road performance analysis. |
| Long-term usage | Long-term data collection on vehicles in service. |
Vehicles and equipment we have instrumented
- Passenger cars, motorcycles and trucks
- Farm and construction equipment
- Locomotives, lawn mowers and wind turbines
- Internal combustion and electric vehicles
How a project runs
- 01
Define
You describe the vehicle, the test goals and where the vehicle will run. We propose the instrumentation and the test protocol.
- 02
Instrument
The transducers, sensors and data acquisition system are fitted to the vehicle.
- 03
Collect
Data is recorded during the test or during normal use.
- 04
Deliver
You receive the recorded loads and operating data.
