Wheel instrumentation

Signals from the wheel, the brake, the tire and the hub, on the wheel the vehicle already has.

The package bolts onto the series wheel through a plate and collet lug nuts, and brings the signals of sensors in the wheel, the brake, the tire, the hub or the axle off the turning wheel. Waterproof, for the bench, the track, the open road or off-road, from forklift trucks to class 8 tractors.

The series wheel stays on the car.

The package goes on the wheel the vehicle already has. Nothing on the vehicle is modified.

The sensors are in the wheel, the brake, the tire or the hub. The package gives them a way off the turning wheel without replacing it.

How a wheel instrumentation package brings signals off the series wheel Front view of the original wheel. The mounting plate (1) bolts onto the lug nuts. The rotating unit at its center (2), a slip ring, an encoder or both, takes the sensor wires. The analog signals (3) go to the recorder. strain gage thermocouple voltage, ICP 1 2 3 Series wheel Analog signals Recorder

Advantages

  • The mounting plateIt bolts onto the original wheel through collet lug nuts machined for the vehicle. Plates exist for passenger cars, trucks and buses, and tractors.
  • The rotating unitA slip ring with 4 to 36 circuits for sensor signals, with an optional encoder up to 1 024 ppr. Or an optical encoder alone, 50 to 5 000 ppr, rated IP67 with contacting rotary seals.
  • Your signalsStrain gage, thermocouple, voltage or ICP signals cross the slip ring in analog form, with no pre-amplifier stage. Conditioners and on-board acquisition are options.

What engineers ask first

Does it fit an electric vehicle?

Yes. The wheel instrumentation system can be used on electric vehicles, including with the motor directly at the wheel.

Does the wheel have to be modified?

No. The system mounts on the original wheel through a plate and collet lug nuts machined for the vehicle.

Do the signals need conditioning on the wheel?

The transmission is analog, through a low-resistance slip ring designed for low-voltage signals such as thermocouples and strain gages. Conditioners and on-board acquisition systems are available as options.

Technical support

An application engineer answers within 24 hours on working days. When equipment fails during a campaign, diagnosis is remote and a loan unit can be shipped, depending on the project.
