Overview
The LW50 is a new 6-component dynamometric wheel capable of measuring all forces and moments applied to a vehicle wheel. It provides independent output signals for vertical (Fz), lateral (Fy), and longitudinal (Fx) forces, as well as camber (Mx), steering (Mz), and torsion (My) moments. Designed for demanding applications, the LW50 can be used on track, on-road, off-road, or on fatigue test benches thanks to its IP67-rated, temperature-compensated design.
Key Specifications
The sensor offers a maximum radial load capacity of 50 kN and a lateral capacity of 25 kN. Moment measurement ranges are 6.5 kNm. It also integrates triaxial accelerometers (±100 g) to measure accelerations along the X, Y, and Z axes. Signal transmission can be ensured via a slip ring or internal telemetry, providing flexibility depending on testing needs (extended tests, short tests).
Integration and Data Acquisition
Integration on Vehicle or Test Bench
The LW50 mounts on wheels of 12 inches and larger and can be used in rotating or fixed configurations. For rotating applications, the amplifier module mounts directly on the sensor, digitizing signals before transmission through the slip ring. Installation on the bench or vehicle requires the design and production of two interfaces:
- A specific rim for tire mounting.
- An adapter for the hub/axle.
Data Acquisition
The CT3 interface box applies calibration factors, performs real-time crosstalk compensation, and calculates reference frame transformations, with outputs available in analog, CAN-FD, CAN 2.0, Ethernet, and EtherCAT (optional modules for analog and EtherCAT outputs). An embedded web interface, accessible via USB, allows simplified system configuration.
