SR10M: ten-circuit end-of-shaft slip ring with brush lifter, 50.8 mm rotor
The SR10M is an end-of-shaft slip ring with ten circuits rated at 500 mA. It mounts on the end of a rotating shaft and carries strain gages, thermocouples, accelerometers and low voltages from rotor to stator through precious metal rings and brushes, with a peak noise of 0.1 Ω. A manual brush lifter lifts the brushes off the rings while the slip ring keeps turning, reducing wear. Its stainless steel case is sealed against dust. Color-coded solder terminals sit on rotor and stator, and circular connectors are optional. With a 50.8 mm (2 in) rotor, it is 42.7 mm (1.68 in) long to the top of the brush lifter, weighs 184 g and runs up to 12 000 rpm, from −40 to 121 °C.
On installation, the rotor flange is mounted to the end of the shaft, through an adapter if needed, with three #8-32 screws 120° apart on a 43.2 mm (1.700 in) bolt circle. Sensor wires run along the shaft, or through a hollow shaft and a slot machined in it or in the adapter, to the rotor terminals. The bearings are lubricated for life; below −18 °C (0 °F), a low-temperature lubricant is specified.
It is used, for example, for thermocouples on crankshaft bearings on an engine dynamometer or on an air conditioning compressor; its rotor pilots onto AMP-TC modules that amplify the thermocouples on the rotating side.
SR20M: twenty-circuit end-of-shaft slip ring, 50.8 mm rotor
The SR20M is an end-of-shaft slip ring with twenty circuits rated at 500 mA. It mounts on the end of a rotating shaft and carries strain gages, thermocouples, accelerometers and low voltages from rotor to stator through precious metal rings and brushes, with a peak noise of 0.1 Ω. Its stainless steel case is sealed against dust. Color-coded solder terminals sit on rotor and stator, and circular connectors are optional. With a 50.8 mm (2 in) rotor, it is 56.6 mm (2.23 in) long, weighs 204 g and runs up to 4 000 rpm, from −40 to 121 °C.
SR36M: 36-circuit end-of-shaft slip ring, 50.8 mm rotor
The SR36M is an end-of-shaft slip ring with 36 circuits rated at 250 mA. With a 50.8 mm (2 in) rotor, it is 89.2 mm (3.51 in) long, weighs 255 g and runs up to 2 400 rpm, from −40 to 121 °C.
In a validation test, an SR36M spinning at 900 rpm carried a Gigabit Ethernet link, a file passing at 111 MB/s with no error; it is also used for thermocouples on crankshaft bearings on an engine dynamometer or on an air conditioning compressor.
SR10M/15K92: ten circuits, high speed version
The SR10M/15K92 is a high speed version of the SR10M, the ten-circuit SR Series end-of-shaft slip ring with a 50.8 mm (2 in) rotor. Like the SR10M, it carries strain gages, thermocouples and other sensors from rotor to stator through ten circuits rated at 500 mA, precious metal rings and brushes, in a stainless steel case sealed against dust.
The rotor flange is mounted to the end of the shaft, through an adapter if needed, with three #8-32 screws 120° apart on a 43.2 mm (1.700 in) bolt circle. The SR10M datasheet rates the standard model to 12 000 rpm; ask us for the rating of the high speed version.
For the standard model, see the SR10M on this page.
SR20M/GEV: twenty circuits, specialized rings
The SR20M/GEV is a version of the SR20M, the twenty-circuit SR Series end-of-shaft slip ring with a 50.8 mm (2 in) rotor, built with specialized rings. Like the SR20M, it carries twenty circuits rated at 500 mA in a stainless steel case sealed against dust.
The rotor flange is mounted to the end of the shaft, through an adapter if needed, with three #8-32 screws 120° apart on a 43.2 mm (1.700 in) bolt circle. The SR20M datasheet rates the standard model to 4 000 rpm, from −40 to 121 °C; ask us what the specialized rings change.
For the standard model, see the SR20M on this page.
SR4M/E60: four-circuit end-of-shaft slip ring with 60 ppr encoder, 50.8 mm rotor
The SR4M/E60 is an end-of-shaft slip ring with four circuits rated at 500 mA and a 60 pulse-per-revolution encoder. It mounts on the end of a rotating shaft and carries strain gages, thermocouples, accelerometers and low voltages from rotor to stator, while the encoder measures rotational speed. Its rings and brushes are precious metal, and its terminals color-coded. The housing is sealed against dust, and a manual brush lifter lifts the brushes off the rings when no signal is needed. With a 50.8 mm (2 in) rotor, it is 57.9 mm long, weighs 213 g and runs up to 6 000 rpm, from −40 to 100 °C.
