SR45A-AXHS: forty-five-circuit end-of-shaft slip ring
The SR45A-AXHS is an end-of-shaft slip ring with 45 circuits rated at 250 mA. It mounts on the end of a rotating shaft and carries strain gages, thermocouples, accelerometers and low voltages from rotor to stator. Its rings and brushes are wrought precious metals, with no plating, which minimizes electrical noise; the peak resistance variation is 0.1 Ω. Its stainless steel case is sealed against dust, and circular connectors on rotor and stator carry the circuits. With a 63.49 mm (2.5 in) rotor flange, it is 181.61 mm long, weighs 794 g and runs up to 4 000 rpm, from −40 to 121 °C.
The rotor flange is bolted to the end of the shaft on a 57.15 mm (2.25 in) bolt circle. The sensor wires are brought to the rotor connectors and the data acquisition wires to the stator connectors; the connectors are inserted and secured with a clamping plate. The bearings are permanently lubricated, which eliminates routine cleaning and maintenance.
It is used where many circuits are needed on one shaft, for example to measure strain and temperature on fan and turbine blades, or strain on the blades and in the gearbox of a wind turbine.
