01 · The essential

Rotor in the shaft line, stator beside it

The TF has three parts. The rotor goes in the shaft line between two flanges and carries the strain gages and a telemetry transmitter. The stator sits on the fixed part of the test bench, and a receiver unit supplies the power and generates the output signals.

The stator mounts on the frame about 1 to 2 mm from the rotor antenna. It powers the rotor by induction and collects the measurement, sampled at 5.4 kHz.

Check the alignment of the shafts during installation, to keep radial forces on the torque meter low. Angular position and rotational speed are measured as well. Thrust and two bending moments are options.
