B7-T-1.2W: weatherproof tubular slip ring for 30 mm half shafts
The B7-T-1.2W is a weatherproof tubular slip ring for automotive half shafts with a 30 mm (1.200 in) bore as standard, and a 36 mm (1.418 in) bore as a special option. It was designed for long-term, all-weather (not submersible) torque measurements, and the sealing system protects against water spray, grit, dust, mud, slush and snow. Seven circuits rated at 1 A connect strain gages, thermocouples and other sensors. It is Ø 83.5 mm (3.285 in) by 60.3 mm (2.375 in) wide and weighs 1.0 kg; a light-weight aluminum model weighs 0.7 kg. The rating is 3,500 rpm, from −40 to 149 °C, with a maximum peak noise of 0.1 Ω.
The sensor wires go to seven color-coded solder terminals on the rotor, and four #8 set screws fasten it on the shaft. Each assembly includes a 15 ft (4.6 m) stator cable with a protective rubber boot for the connector at the slip ring. The B7-T-1.2W/E60 version adds an encoder that produces a 60 pulse-per-revolution, 5 V, TTL-compatible square wave from a Hall-effect sensor, so speed is determined down to 0 mph; it is driven from 5.5 to 45 V DC and operates from −40 to 149 °C. A strain gage amplifier is also optional.
It is used for long-term half shaft torque measurement in all weather. For a smaller diameter, Ø 75.0 mm, on 31.5 mm half shafts, see the B7-1.24W.
B7-T-1.2W/E60: half shafts up to 30 mm, speed encoder
The B7-T-1.2W/E60 is the B7-T-1.2W weatherproof tubular slip ring for automotive half shafts with its encoder option. It fits shafts up to 30 mm (1.200 in). The sealing system protects against water spray, grit, dust, mud, slush and snow; it is made for long-term, all-weather (not submersible) torque measurements. The encoder produces a 60 pulse-per-revolution, 5 V, TTL-compatible square wave from a Hall-effect sensor, so speed is determined down to 0 mph; it is driven from 5.5 to 45 V DC and operates from −40 to 149 °C.
Seven circuits rated at 1 A connect strain gages, thermocouples and other sensors through color-coded solder terminals on the rotor. The construction is stainless steel with permanently lubricated bearings and instrumentation quality rings and brushes, with a maximum peak noise of 0.1 Ω; it is Ø 83.5 mm (3.285 in) by 60.3 mm (2.375 in) wide, rated to 3 500 rpm, from −40 to 149 °C. Each assembly includes a 4.6 m (15 ft) stator cable with a protective rubber boot for the connector at the slip ring.
It records half shaft torque and shaft speed in all weather. Without the encoder, see the B7-T-1.2W; for a smaller diameter on 31.5 mm half shafts, the B7-1.24W.
B7-T-1.418W/E60: half shafts up to 36 mm, speed encoder
The B7-T-1.418W/E60 is the B7-T-1.2W weatherproof tubular slip ring with the 36 mm (1.418 in) bore, offered as a special option, and the encoder option.
Its seven circuits are rated at 1 A and connect strain gages, thermocouples and other sensors through color-coded solder terminals on the rotor. It is rated to 3 500 rpm. The B7-T-1.2W datasheet describes the series; ask us for the drawing of the 36 mm bore version.
It records half shaft torque and shaft speed in all weather on shafts larger than 30 mm. For the 30 mm bore, see the B7-T-1.2W.
BA-T-1.2W: half shafts up to 30 mm, built-in strain gage amplifier
The BA-T-1.2W is the B7-T-1.2W weatherproof tubular slip ring for automotive half shafts with its strain gage amplifier option, so the torque bridge is amplified on the rotating side before it crosses the rings. It fits shafts up to 30 mm (1.200 in). The sealing system protects against water spray, grit, dust, mud, slush and snow; it is made for long-term, all-weather (not submersible) torque measurements.
Its seven circuits are rated at 1 A, through color-coded solder terminals on the rotor, and it is rated to 3 500 rpm. The amplifier is specified in a separate BA-T-1.2W sheet: ask us for it.
It is used for long-term half shaft torque measurement in all weather. Without the amplifier, see the B7-T-1.2W.
BA-T-1.2W/E60: built-in strain gage amplifier and speed encoder
The BA-T-1.2W/E60 combines the two options of the B7-T-1.2W weatherproof half-shaft slip ring: a strain gage amplifier built in, and the encoder.
Its seven circuits are rated at 1 A, through color-coded solder terminals on the rotor, and it is rated to 3 500 rpm. The amplifier is specified in a separate BA-T-1.2W sheet: ask us for it.
It records amplified half shaft torque and shaft speed on one assembly, in all weather. With the encoder only, see the B7-T-1.2W/E60; with neither option, the B7-T-1.2W.
