LW-2T-30K: medium-duty wheel force transducer, 133 kN
The LW-2T-30K is the lower-capacity model of the LW-2T-30K and LW-2T-40K medium-duty wheel force transducers. Four-arm strain gage bridges give independent signals for the three forces and the camber, steer and torque moments: 133 kN (30,000 lbf) radial (Fx, Fz), 66 kN (15,000 lbf) lateral (Fy) at the tire patch, and 30 kN·m (22,000 lbf·ft) on each of Mx, My and Mz. Non-linearity is 0.5 % of full scale or less on Fx, Fz and My and 0.75 % on Mx, Mz and Fy, where the LW-2T-40K is 1.5 % on Fy. Hysteresis is below 0.5 %, and crosstalk after correction below 0.5 %. The maximum recommended static corner weight is 2,720 kg (6,000 lb). The transducer is weatherproof and temperature compensated, operates from −40 to 125 °C, measures X and Z accelerations, has a 0.17° angular resolution, and fits hub bolt patterns of 265 mm diameter and smaller.
Rim and hub adapters follow the LW-2T-30K/40K design guides; the SAE J328 static load rating of the LW-2T-30K adapters is 6,000 lbf (2,720 kg), and it should not be exceeded. The LW-2T-30K manual covers single, front and dual wheels. Twenty-four M14 bolts join the transducer to each adapter, tightened to 150 N·m. After the wheel nuts, the matched amplifier and its ten-circuit slip ring bolt onto the transducer, sealed by O-rings. A restraint rod to a magnetic bracket holds the slip ring stator, or the stator angle correction device on steered wheels. The CT3 interface box, powered at 9 to 36 V DC, runs the shunt calibration and the zero, wheel lifted and turned two revolutions.
It adapts to 15 in and larger single or dual wheels, and one transducer measures the combined loads of a dual wheel set or a single tire. It is used on commercial vehicles, medium-duty trucks, skid steers, off-road equipment and large forklift trucks, on road and off road, and to monitor and control laboratory tests.
